It was on one sunny Sunday afternoon in
Southern California that photographer and
dog enthusiast Chris McClary spotted what
would immediately become his pursuit of passion.
Strapped in behind the wheel of his 1966 drop-top
Plymouth, Chris happened upon a most amusing
sight--a Cadillac, Coupe de Ville with leopard
print upholstery and a teacup poodle for a
headrest. One look at this cavalier canine
and he knew this scene had to be immortalized.
He quickly pulled out his camera and snapped
a photo. Before long his creative juices were
flowing like drool from a Neapolitan Mastiff.
For some reason, he couldn’t shed that notion
from his mind and immediately, almost instinctively,
he became increasingly aware of these sights.
Stopped at a light, he would reflexively scan
the intersection. Spotting another dog in
motion he would quickly capture the moment
then, like a Bloodhound, continuing his hunt.
Before long, the photos began to pile up,
until he had amassed thousand images of man’s
best friend riding in man’s most prized possession.
Chasing dogs as if they were larger-than-life
celebrities, he had unwittingly become a “The
Puparazzo”. And what did Chris the Puparazzo
call his work? He simply named it “See Spot
Ride.”
With a unique talent for color and composition,
Chris’ sense of style, sense of humor and
love of dogs offers a new breed of photography.
In 2004, Chris expanded his presence to include
the internet with the highly anticipated launch
of www.seespotride.com, allowing him to share
his beloved work with the world.
Beyond the quirky and irresistible photographs
in the Puparazzo's galleries, visitors are
treated to dog biscuit recipes, dog-related
film reviews, canine headlines and exclusive
merchandise with a portion of proceeds from
each sale benefiting less fortunate dogs.
Four years after that indelible image came
into focus, Chris continues this playful pursuit,
inspired by letters and emails of support
from dog lovers around the world.
